DeFiScan Community Review Program

Are you deep in the trenches, knowing the protocols you use in and out? It’s time to put that knowledge to work, doing a service for the whole industry and getting paid for it!

After the successful release of DeFiScan and the “How much De is in my Fi” competition last week during Devcon, we will now shift gears and focus on increasing coverage of the reviewed DeFi protocols. And how better to do this than through an incentivized community program with a total prize pool of 10,000 LUSD!

This article outlines the details of the program.

Key Information

  • The total payout for community submitted protocol reviews is LUSD 10,000
  • Anyone can submit reviews through a PR on the DeFiScan GitHub
  • DeFi Collective members review and verify submissions
  • Only PRs containing a complete and accurate review are merged and earn the prize of 500 LUSD
  • Payouts are made in LUSD on Optimism
  • Participants can submit more than one review
  • The program ends as soon as LUSD 10,000 are paid out to community reviewers

Scope

At this stage, and although all submissions are welcome, only the reviews of the following protocols (on the chains indicated in brackets) are eligible for the prize payout:

  1. Lido (Ethereum)
  2. Aave v3 (Ethereum, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Polygon, Base, Optimism, Scroll, BSC, Gnosis)
  3. Aave v2 (Ethereum, Polygon)
  4. EigenLayer (Ethereum)
  5. Ether.Fi Stake (Ethereum)
  6. Ether.fi Vaults (Ethereum)
  7. Ether.fi Liquid (Ethereum)
  8. Maker / Sky (Ethereum)
  9. Uniswap v3 (Ethereum, Arbitrum, Polygon, Base)
  10. Uniswap v2 (Ethereum, Base)
  11. Binance Staked ETH (Ethereum, BSC)
  12. Rocket Pool (Ethereum)
  13. Ethena (Ethereum)
  14. Spark (Ethereum)
  15. Pendle (Ethereum)
  16. Compound v3 (Ethereum, Arbitrum)
  17. Compound V2 (Ethereum)
  18. Symbiotic (Ethereum)
  19. Zircuit (Ethereum)
  20. Venus (BSC, Ethereum)
  21. PancakeSwap AMM (BSC)
  22. PancakeSwap AMM v3 (BSC)
  23. Morpho Blue (Ethereum, Base)
  24. Renzo (Ethereum)
  25. Curve DEX (Ethereum, Arbitrum)
  26. Curve crvUSD (Ethereum)

Getting Started

The following steps outline the process of registering for and conducting a successful protocol review. Make sure you understand and follow this process:

  1. Read the defiscan methodology and existing reviews to familiarize yourself with the expected submission process
  2. Clone the permission-scanner repository from our GitHub
  3. Fork the defiscan repository from our GitHub
  4. Copy the review template and complete the information in the frontmatter with the details of the targeted DeFi protocol
  5. Register your participation for the specific protocol by creating a draft PR with the review template on the defiscan repository
  6. Complete the review within 2 weeks of registration (through step 5) by updating your PR with the full information
  7. Ping the team in the DeFiScan channel on our GitHub
  8. Assist the team in finalizing the review if any information is missing or incomplete
  9. Once verified the team will merge your PR and coordinate for the payout - thank you!

Successful Reviews

A review is considered successful if it follows the process outlined above and is ultimately merged to the main repository. In particular, this requires that:

  • Registration of a protocol/chain, that is not yet in review, by submitting a draft PR
  • Completion and submission of final PR with complete and accurate review within 2 weeks after registration
  • Assisting the DeFi Collective team with final corrections and cleanups and merge or PR within 1 week after submission of final PR

The prize of 500 LUSD is only awarded to successful reviews and paid out in LUSD on Optimism.

Final Notes

DeFiScan is an open source initiative driven by the DeFi Collective, a non-profit organization, and the broader DeFi community. We are very grateful for your participation in this initiative and support of the DeFi ecosystem. If you cannot participate in the DeFiScan Community Review Program but still want to support us, please consider donating to the DeFi Collective or spreading the word!

GHO, along with crvUSD, was one of the most anticipated stablecoins released this year. Tied to the Aave protocol, it provides more options for depositors to leverage their aTokens holdings. Unlike other stablecoins such as DAI or FRAX, GHO is not harnessing some devices sacrificing decentralization for peg, such as Maker’s Peg Stability Module (leading to an accumulation of centralized stablecoin as collateral) or FRAX’s AMO (which creates additional risk/centralization vectors through its controlling mutlisig).

Making the most of Gnosis Safe: toolbox & tips

Now is the best time to start using Safe! It has several benefits, whether for personal use or, more obviously, for companies and institutions. For individual users, the main advantage of Safe is the flexibility it brings to the security model: instead of having to migrate all assets to a new wallet to update one’s security model, doing the same thing on a Safe merely means signing a few transactions to add and/or remove signers.
